Good Product, Not For Every Application July 16, 2010 Angelo E. Herrera (Hermiston, OR USA) I think this is probably a good product, just not for the application for which I needed it. My pickup seat has a tear in the material where it hits the hard plastic of the seat bracket, it tore because each time the seat cushion is compressed the material would rub on the plastic. The repair kit does not provide a durable enough fix for this situation.
This item is crap. July 8, 2010 Remrich 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This item is complete crap. After following all the directions by the letter for a very small tear in my black leather car, it looked worse after the 'fix' than it did before. The black was lighter than my car interior and looked horrendous after its application. I even tried using some black shoe polish to darken the spot up a little but nothing worked. Eventually I just scrubbed the area with some cleaning wipes until most of the product was removed and almost restored to the condition it was in before using the leather repair kit. Don't waste your time or money, you won't be fooling anyone. In fact, you will only draw more attention to the spot.
Surprisingly good results June 21, 2010 TG 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm quite happy with the repair I got from this kit. I had a big tear (1/2" x 3") in my vinyl car seat. This kit had everything I needed and the repair came out pretty good: you can tell it's patched, but I'd say it's 80% or so. Looks better than the piece of electrical tape I had on there before. For the price it can't be beat.
One advantage of my situation was that my seats were black so I did not need to do any color mixing. I could see how it would be difficult to get a good color match on a non-standard color.
Did the job March 27, 2010 R. Horne (Round Rock Texas) Hard to understand the instructions and heat pencil takes a while to heat up. Needed to reapply heat 4 times before it set. Afterwards it was a good patch.
Somewhere between duct tape and new... January 16, 2010 James R. McDonald (South Carolina) 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
I found a neat web site with a guy showing the proper way to use these type kits. The permatex one costs more, but it comes with the most of what you need in one stop shopping. If you are trying to fix a convertible top, or a chair seat, get some Singer(R) Iron-On Patches 2x3 Inch 10/Pkg-Denim, and iron one of these on the inside surface for extra strength. The repair will not be perfect, but it is a stop-gap between 100 MPH tape and giving away 3 day cruise ticket money. look at [...] and spyder top repair.
