Product Description
The permanent solution to sun-faded bumpers and trim moldings. Forever Black restores a dark, black, finish on sun-faded bumpers and body moldings. This is not a cosmetic dressing. It's an easy-to-use permanent dye. It permanently colors black plastic, rubber and vinyl with the same polymers that the manufacturers use. It is not a silicone dressing - silicone products will make plastic, vinyl and rubber appear to have regained their color but the change is temporary. Plus, silicone oils have been known to dry out the applied areas creating a bigger problem. Silicone also tends to leave a greasy residue even after buffing.

4 out of 5 stars Improved my truck   September 4, 2010

I needed this for my pickup truck. This product worked well for me. You can save money by using cheap paint brushes that are disposable. I dont think the applicator that comes with it would work too good so I avoided it. This did a nice job bringing back color to dark trim on my truck.

5 out of 5 stars Forever black Bumper dye   September 1, 2010

Forever black is a great product. I own a mercedes 1985 380sl euro spec with small bumpers retrofitted from a 1972 450sl. You can imagine what the 37yr old rubber must have looked. I applied one coat of the product in the blazing sun, no shade available and too much in a rush to finish. The bumpers look absolutely great and didnt fade after 4 washes. The company claims that you don't need to musk tape the paint or chrome surroundings while applying the product. I recommend that you do. Makes cleaning much easier, product has great adhering and eliminated the chance of damaging paint or other finish due to scrubbing. Hey, it's not meant to restore 37 year old rubber to new but the result was awesome. Some of the other reviews complain about the foam applicator. It is not bad but I did see some streaking when it dried and I think that a finer sponge may be better. I'll try next time with a better sponge.

1 out of 5 stars Bad product and worse design   August 29, 2010

I wanted to darken the plastic trim on my 2006 Xterra and this product seemed to fit the bill. And it does darken the trim as long as you are looking from a passing car at 60 mph. Up close it is full of streaks and blotches. As bad as that is the design of the applicator is worse. You have to push it against the areawhich wish to treat but if that area is on the side of the car where most trim is then it run down in a black river all over the paint. RUnined a perfectly good towel in wiping it off before it dried.

5 out of 5 stars Nothing beats it, best black ever!   August 16, 2010

If you had some joker that decided putting wax on your plastic trim was a good thing, and it's just faded from age, you definitely want to get this. I have a 2001 Volvo V70 and people are always asking me how the trim on it still looks new. You people out there with those ugly faded fenders on your Jeeps, get this stuff please.

I've posted some photos so you can see the difference. I'll get another couple up soon as this is going on two years later. There's been a slight bit of fade and if you get right up on it with a pressure washer it can take a bit of the surface off but the plastic underneath is still dyed a lot darker than it was before.

Do make sure you don't get it on your paint. It hasn't stained or discolored it, but it takes a hell of a lot of elbow grease to get it back off.

4 out of 5 stars Prepare Carefully!   July 24, 2010

Definitely black, but a little streaky.

I carefully washed with warm water, a scrubby sponge, and dish soap and then the same process again with the provided cleaner. After my fenders were completely dry, I applied three coats in the shade with a foam brush and allowed each to dry 20 minutes between applications.

Three of my fender flares came out very black, but with streaks. The fourth wouldn't accept the dye in a few areas, leaving me with a mostly black but blotchy flare...???

They're not perfect, but they're far better than they were. I'd suspect my blotchy results are a result of my failure to completely remove all of the old silicon residue. Clean carefully!
